Capture fisheries remain at best at a constant level of around 90 million tons since almost two decades with no further possibilities of increase. On the other hand, aquaculture and fish farming in particular is growing at a high pace to meet the growing demands of global population. About one third of capture fisheries is also used for production of fish meal and fish oil which are precious nutrient sources.
