Following extensive survey and analyses of a range of potential replacements for fish meal and fish oil (including analyses of known and potential contaminants - to be described in a forthcoming Newsletter), the following diets have been developed and are currently under short and long term growth trials, tests and investigations in various commercial and experimental facilities.


Species Ingredients experimental diets
Salmon: fish meal 15.0%, corn gluten 7.0%, wheat gluten 14.7%, whole wheat 11.1%, soya protein concentrate 24.3%, fish oil 8.4%, rapeseed oil 10.5%, linseed oil 2.9%, palm oil 5.7%, premix 0.5%

Rainbow trout: fish meal 5%, soybean meal 17.5%, corn gluten meal 15.0%, corn 7.0%, wheat gluten 25.1%, fish oil 5.0%, rapeseed oil, 8.9%, linseed oil 3.6%, palm oil 5.3%, soy lecithin 1.0%, premix 6.6%
Gilthead seabream: fish meal 15%, soybean meal 14.3%, corn gluten meal 40%, fish oil 5.2%, rapeseed oil 1.7%, linseed oil 5.8%, CPSP90 5.0%, soylecithin 1.0%, premix 5.6%
Common carp: fish meal 23.0%, soybean meal 9.0%, corn gluten meal 7.0%, wheat gluten 5.0%, whole wheat 47.8%, Camelina oil 5.8%, premix 2.4%
Indian major carps:

soybean meal 29.9%, ground nut oil cake 14.2%, mustard oil cake 23.6%, rice bran (full flat) 29.3%, linseed oil 1.0%, premix 2.0%
